Why Cruise?
Why should you consider a cruise vacation? For one thing, cruise travel is easy-your accommodations, meals, transportation, and recreation all in one place! Finally, cruises are a global travel option, with cruise lines offering itineraries across the globe. The destination possibilities are endless when it comes to cruises!
Popular cruise lines include:

Tips and Tricks
Arrive early: Make sure you arrive at your embarkation port at least one day in advance. This will ensure that should any major travel delays occur, you won’t miss your cruise!
Get the lay of the land: When you board the ship, take advantage of the time before you set sail to explore the boat. This will allow you to orient yourself onboard and locate the essentials, the dining hall and swimming pools! You may even be able to take advantage of a ship tour depending on your cruise line.
Book Early: Make decisions about what excursions you want to participate in or what reservations you want to make early in the planning process. When the time comes to make your selections, the earlier you book the better chance you have of getting your top choice of excursions!
Pack Smart: The staterooms on cruise ships are usually pretty small, meaning there is not a ton of space for large suitcases and bags, especially if there are multiple people in a room. Be sure to check the weather and itinerary well in advance, to make sure you pack accordingly. Many cruises include formal dress or theme nights that you may want a special outfit for!
Tech Savvy: Before departing on your cruise, be sure to check your cellphone plan’s international coverage. Even if you aren’t planning to get off the ship, you are still going to be in international waters. Many wireless companies have short term international plans specifically designed for cruises, or you may be able to take advantage of a pay-per-day option.
Tipping Tip: It’s important to be aware of the tipping policy of your cruise line before embarking. If you choose to purchase food or beverages ala carte while onboard, there may be an added service charge, or a tip may be expected. On cruises, it is customary to tip stateroom attendants as well as your assigned dining room servers at the end of the cruise.
Budget: For many people, a budget is important while on vacation. One aspect of cruises that can get really expensive are the alcoholic beverages. It is a good idea to either pre-purchase a drink package for the cruise or set a budget for drinks while on board. This is a good way to enjoy your cruise, while not breaking the bank!
Have Fun: Most cruise ships have incredible activities and entertainment onboard! Take advantage of all that you can, including different events hosted throughout the cruise, as they are usually all included. Families setting sail should be sure to check out any kids or teens clubs that may be onboard. These clubs are a great way for kids to have a blast while parents enjoy quiet time or participate in designated adult only activities onboard!
Travel Advisor Recommendation
“For first time cruisers I’d recommend Royal Caribbean. They have a high quality standard, lots of cruise options, and an overall great experience. I’d recommend a shorter cruise (3-4 nights) for anyone who is new to cruising. This will give you a taste of cruise travel and will either leave you wanting more or let you know that this isn’t your preferred type of vacation.” Jason Balsbaugh @journeysbookedbyjason
