Disney Accessibility Services

For over half a century, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California have been bringing happiness and magic to all those who visit the parks! Disney truly goes above and beyond when it comes to accessibility services, ensuring that every guest gets the most out of their Disney vacation as possible!

Mobility Services

Both Walt Disney World and Disneyland have a variety of services for guests who require mobility assistance during their visit. All hotels and theme parks at both Disney resorts offer accessible parking spaces as well as accommodate wheelchairs and ECVs on transportation offered at the resorts. Guests requiring the use of a wheelchair or ECV while at Disney, have the option to rent these mobility devices during their visit.

Theme park attractions at Disney fall into one of four categories when it comes to accessibility. Wheelchair/ECV accessible attractions allow guests to remain in their wheelchair or ECV for the duration of the attraction. Other attractions may require guests to transfer from their ECV to a wheelchair, and in some cases from a wheelchair directly into the ride vehicle. Finally, while there are very few, some attractions require guests to be fully ambulatory.

Service Animals

If you require the assistance of a service animal, they are more than welcome to accompany you to any Disney theme park! Before visiting, make sure to review service animal regulations for individual attractions which may not be able to accommodate service animals in the ride vehicle. Select Disney hotels are also pet friendly, making these ideal locations for guests with service animals to stay, as they are equipped with designated animal accommodations and relief areas.

It should be noted that only registered, trained, service animals are permitted to enter Disney theme parks. Comfort and support animals are allowed at designated pet friendly hotels, but can not accompany guests to the theme parks.

Guests who are deaf or have hearing loss

When it comes to navigating the theme parks, guests who require hearing related accommodations can take advantage of assisted handheld listening or closed caption devices at specific attractions. Written scripts for shows and attraction narration may also be available. For specific live shows at the theme parks, sign language interpretation may also be available. Guests should be sure to check with cast members at individual attractions or at guest services to access accessibility devices and up to date information.

Resort hotels at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland have a variety of accommodations that can be made for guests who are deaf or experience hearing loss. These include, door knock and phone alerts, phone amplifiers, bed shaker notification, strobe smoke detectors, and text-typewriter phones. Guests should indicate any accommodations needed when making their resort reservation to ensure they are placed in an accessible hotel room.

Guests who are blind or have low vision

For guests who are blind or have low vision, Disney offers braille guidebooks, portable tactile maps, as well as stationary braille maps to help guests navigate their way through the theme parks. For select theme park attractions and entertainment, guests can utilize handheld audio description devices. Accessibility devices and maps can be retrieved from guest services at individual theme parks.

*Please note that this information is not all inclusive, and that additional services may be available upon request. Guests planning to utilize accessibility services at Disney should consult with their travel advisor or check online for up to date guides and information for specific theme parks and hotels.
